  3. I was intriqued by this story that generated 644 comments. It could be a mirror image of BPOE shrouded in secrecy.

  5. So long as the PC and our provincial Liberals are in power, the huge influx of foreign workers/students is all about giving corporations a gold mine of cheap labor at our expense.

A coupling reaction is when global liquidity sloshes into our property market and real interest rates are negative.

  8. Fish, it was a great talk. Everyone was very attentive. But one interesting thing really caught my "ear". Once LePoidevin started showing slides of bank stocks around the world after the housing bubble burst in their own countries, and started showing how the average CDN mutual fund is heavily weighted in the banking sector, you could hear the panic as people started shuffling through the sheets in the booklet from one bank stock page to the other.

My impression was that a lot of people there had already accepted that housing here will decline. But the thought of the further ramifications (to their portfolio) hadn't occurred to them. Ben made one excellent point that anyone who makes their living in the FIRE industries, who holds all their assets in housing, should be very careful to diversify. I think that message was powerful. And I think a lot of people in the audience were mortgage brokers and real estate agents as well as the odd investor.

So they accomplished a lot in terms of getting the message out.
